Attended Morpeth School and played for East London, Middlesex and London Boys. Played for the Hammers junior side before signing apprentice forms on 29 August 1969/ Became a full pro in December 1970, and during the 1971-72 season missed only a couple of Reserves Team games. Unfortunately he sustained a nasty injury which cost him his place for a lengthy period, and after due consideration he was released. He later signed for Wealdstone in the Southern League.

Tony Carr
A prolific centre-forward who attended St. Paul's Way school and was captain of the East London Boy's side tat won the English Trophy. He had three years as an apprentice with Hammers and two seasons as a pro, playing in the reserves. He then moved to Barnet in the Southern League for a season before breaking a leg and being out of the game for 18 months. Meanwhile he qualified as a PE instructor and sports master. He returned to West Ham to serve as a part-time coach with the youth squad under John Lyall in 1980 and guided the youth side to their first-ever South East Counties League title in 1985. Tony Cottee, Paul Ince and Alan Dickens are among the youngsters who emerged as stars under Tony's management. Appointed manager of the reserves in 1988, Tony reverted to youth team management duties at the start of 1992-93 and has considerable responsibility for youth development, through the school of excellence, at Upton Park.
In 1996 Tony was responsible for bringing on players such as Frank Lampard, Rio Ferdinand, Joe Cole and Michael Carrick. Youth Academy director after nearly 30 years of unbroken servive at Upton Park, Tony led the youngsters to the South East Counties title again in 1995-96 anf 1997-98 and the Under-19s to FA Premier Academy titles in 1998-99, 1999-2000 (wher the Under-17s won their respective League, too) and 2003-04. In 1997 Tony was co-author of a training techniques and tactics book entitled: Youth Soccer Coaching, now recognised as an essential work of reference.

Played for Greenwich under-13s efore moving to Leicestershire. Selected for Leicester Boys and County Grammar Schools. He played in international games for English Public Schools v. Eire and England under-18 schools v. Scotland at Hampden,in addition to England Youth and Amateur trials.

Goalkeeper Tommy had a rather unfortunate time at Upton Park through injury, which meant him spending the larger part of 1954-55 season "on the line" He was offered a change of surroundings, and effected his transfer to Darlington of the Third Division (North) in July 1955

6ft 5ins centre-half arrived during the transfer window of 2002, from University College Dublin in the Eircom League, on a free transfer, and had initial discussions to stay, but, with other clubs interested in him before he came to Upton Park, he should be able to retain his ambition to make it in professional football
